Christian Vargel, an engineering consultant and expert in corrosion of aluminium, has become an obligatory reference in this speciality.
Christian Vargel gained experience and outstanding expertise in the applications of aluminium and its corrosion over the 40 years he spent within the Pechiney Group, a recognised European leader in aluminium.
With his knowledge and his experience, Christian Vargel has collaborated in many incidences of aluminium corrosion, in sectors as varied as construction, shipbuilding, electricity industry, water treatment, industrial vehicles.
More recently, Christian Vargel has participated in the development of new applications of aluminium, such as desalting sea water, renewable energies (solar, ocean thermal energy conversion - OTEC), transport.
Christian Vargel has also followed the development of new applications for which corrosion is an important issue: sea water desalination, renewable energies (solar energy, ocean thermal energy conversion), etc.
Christian Vargel is the author of 'Corrosion de l’aluminium' [in English: 'Corrosion of aluminium'], (published in French by Dunod in 1999), a reference book, which was widely disseminated and was translated to English and published by Elsevier in 2004 as 'Corrosion of aluminium'.
Christian VARGEL has written several technical brochures targeted for aluminium users: in shipbuilding, ‘Aluminium and the sea’; in industrial vehicles ‘Aluminium in industrial vehicles’. These brochures have been diffused internationally. He has also a written several literature reviews on aluminium corrosion.
Since 1997, Christian VARGEL has been an engineering advisor and expert in aluminium corrosion for various companies and other organisations, not only for service corrosion but to follow projects in which corrosion is a critical issue.
